What Quadrant in Portland has the most Gluten-Free options?

Portland has a food scene that is increasingly being recognized as one of the best in the nation.  Artisan, local, flavorful and unique, Portland’s eateries are a major reason why so many of us are proud to call this city home.  And the options are many. Long known as a vegetarian mecca, Portland has embraced sustainable food, specialty diets, and more recently, food carts, in a big way.  You’re reading a blog about gluten-free options in town, which just helps to illustrate how diverse the food scene is.  When it comes to gluten-free, however, what part of town scores the highest?

GlutenFreePDX has listings for restaurants in all (5) quadrants, and a quick scan reveals that Southeast has the most options listed. Since restaurants come and go, and things in the food world change quickly, we don’t want to declare SE the winner quite yet. Indeed, there are probably a large handful of places that we’ve simply overlooked, or haven’t covered enough. Does fast-growing Northeast pull out the win? Might elusive North Portland have a burgeoning scene?

So, for the next few weeks, we want to hear what you think about the gluten-free dining scene in Portland. Do we give each part of town enough coverage?  Are there some obvious places we’ve overlooked?  Give us a shout! After we conduct this very informal study, we will ‘crown’ the winner with a very cool “Best Quadrant” tag.

    Southeast definitely has the most options. Hawthorne Street alone has several restaurants with GF menus or just tons of GF options. There’s the Hwethorne Fish House, Por Que No, The Sapphire Hotel, and Irio to name just a few. Then there’s the New Cascadia Traditional Bakery not far from Hawthorne. I vote Southeast!

    We are serving both Dinner nightly and Brunch on the weekends with a large portion of the menu dedicated to GF food choices as well as Vegan and Vegetarian.
