More Gluten-Free Choices Coming for Summer

Via Gluten Free Glutton:

If you’re forced into a gluten-free diet, the search for good sandwich bread is hard enough. But the search for decent gluten-free hamburger and hot dog buns is even worse. Fortunately, there may be help on the way.

Udi’s Gluten Free Foods, the favorite sandwich bread brand of many celiac sufferers, is launching a new line of hamburger and hot dog buns that it says will be in stores in May. The company introduced its new buns at the Natural Products Expo West 2011 show in California last month.

Udi’s said in a press release that hamburger and hot dog buns have been the most requested new products by Udi’s customers.

Another national brand, Rudi’s, introduced its gluten-free buns at the California show and also plans to have them in stores in May.

In the meantime, I’ve already mentioned I found good gluten-free hamburger buns made by  a company called Canyon Bakehouse, which are already available in Jacksonville at Native Sun and Whole Foods.

And on the subject of new gluten-free products, you might be interested to know that Kellogg’s is planning on introducing a gluten-free version of Rice Krispies made with brown rice. Kellogg’s says it will be available in June.
